The district authorities have geared up to deal with flood-related challenges in villages situated along the Yamuna river.
It has set up a flood control room, besides putting officials on alert for issuing flood-related warnings, submitting flood situation reports, arranging necessary food material and relief supplies.
“We have made arrangements to tackle flood-like situation as monsoon has hit the region. As of now, there is nothing to worry about. But we are being watchful. We are coordinating with neighbouring districts as well as departments concerned,” said Sanjay Rahar, Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation Department.
Sources say the department has repaired eight studs and constructed 600 ft of revetment at Kalsora complex at the cost of Rs 1.25 crore, while three studs at Nabiabad complex have been repaired at the cost of Rs 15 lakh.
It is learnt that during monsoon, the Yamuna wreaks havoc for residents of around 30 villages situated along the river.
