Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday released a booklet on “Floral and Avifaunal Diversity of Himachal Pradesh” brought out by the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). The Chief Minister said the booklet contained detailed pictorial description and scientific information regarding the avifauna of the state and expressed hope that it would be useful to students, teachers, researchers, naturalists and government agencies. Taxonomic details, identification features and medicinal uses in traditional knowledge systems have been documented for various plant species in this booklet. Similarly, for commonly found bird species, identification features, distribution and nesting behaviour have been listed.

NSUI activists meet Governor

NSUI activists on Tuesday demanded that all students of final year should be promoted with 10 per cent additional marks. The activists led by NSUI state president Chatar Singh met the Governor. They said several states, including Punjab, Harayana, Delhi, Rajasthan and West Bengal, had already promoted the students but the Himachal Government had yet not taken any decision in this regard. They said the students should not be charged any fee for one semester.

Capacity-building programme

An online capacity-building programme on time management was conducted by the Centre of Excellence, CBSE, regional centre, where resource person Ravi Sharma from Army Public School, Dagshai, dwelt on various issues such as ways to manage and plan lessons and maximise teaching and learning. Attended by 30 teachers from the region, the programme focused on how to prioritise tasks and be effective in classrooms. Other key highlights of the programme were smart lesson planning, how to eliminate time wasting activities from the routine and to focus on goal oriented tasks to achieve maximum gains. Since classroom teaching has undergone a sea change in the last few years, CBSE has been regularly organising such programmes to upgrade the skills of its teachers in various schools said Sharma who had conducted various sessions on life skills, gender sensitivity, stress management and teaching of English language.

Bed test form submission date extended

The last date for submission of online application form through the Himachal Pradesh University's - website www.admissions.hpushimla.in - for appearing in the BEd Entrance Test-2020 has been extended up to July 25. Controller of examination (HPU) Dr JS Negi gave the information about the extension of the date on Tuesday.
