After the opening of the world’s highest charging station for electric vehicles at Kaza in Spiti on September 23, three tourists from Delhi became the first to reach Kaza in an electric car today.
Spiti ADM Mohan Dutt Sharma greeted Anjane and his friends by presenting the traditional ‘Khatag’ and gave them an appreciation letter.
The ADM said it was a matter of pride for Spiti that tourists were coming here by pollution-free vehicles. He said locals were also being encouraged to use electric vehicles.
Anjane said they had left from Delhi for Kaza on September 26. They charged their vehicle in Karnal, Jabli, Narkanda, Reckong Peo and Chango.
The total expenditure on charging had come to around Rs 2,000. The car could be easily charged anywhere through a 15 Ampere plug.
He said he would go through the world’s highest motorable road to Hikkim village.
