Himachal recorded the third corona virus death today as a 52-year-old man of Hatli village in Nadaun area of Hamirpur died at Ner Chowk medical college in Mandi.
He had returned from Delhi on April 29 and remained in home quarantine initially. He was then admitted to Hamirpur medical college on May 6 where his sample was taken. He was later shifted to the Covid facility at Bhota on May 9 after he tested positive. He was rushed to the Ner Chowk medical college in Mandi today, as his condition deteriorated.
Senior Medical Superintendent of Ner Chowk medical college Dr Devender Sharma confirmed his death. He said the patient was in a critical condition and died while being examined in the ambulance. He said his body had been kept in the mortuary and the last rites would be performed as per the wishes of his family as per the protocol for cremation of a covid patient.
He worked as a helper in a confectionary shop in Delhi.
The total number of cases has risen to 76, with two new cases being detected today. One positive case is of a 22-year-old Delhi student belonging to Fatehpur in Kangra, who had returned to his native place with his father on May 8. The other positive case is that of a man from Una who had returned from Mohali, last week.
Today’s death is the third corona casualty in the state -- a US returned Tibetan had died at Tanda medical college while a 21-year-old boy, suffering from kidney problem, had died at IGMC, Shimla, earlier.
