Shimla, April 19

Two persons, including a woman, were killed and another injured after the Bolero Camper jeep they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in the Jubbal subdivision of Shimla district last evening, police said here today.

The deceased were identified as Ghamti Devi (52), wife of Dhyan Singh, and Dinesh Kumar (35), son of Girja Nand, both residents of Jhagtan village. The injured was identified as Kapil, son of Sadhu Ram, and a resident of Kothu village.

The accident took place on the Jhagtan-Kothu link road when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into the gorge, killing two of the occupants on the spot.

On being alerted by the area residents, the police reached the spot and rescued the injured, besides recovering the bodies with the help of locals. The injured was rushed to Civil Hospital, Rohru.

Rohru Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravinder Negi said an investigation into the accident was underway.
