Jalandhar, December 8

A team, led by SHO Omkar Singh Brar, arrested Harjinder Singh, alias Honey, a resident of Raj Nagar, near a checkpoint at Paragpur, GT Road. Harjinder was among the nine suspects who were involved in the recent murderous attack on a city-based property dealer, Shashi Sharma, and his son.

DCP (Investigation) Gurmeet Singh said: “Honey was among the other suspects who went inside the office of the victim and attacked him. He was roaming in the area after committing the crime. The police arrested him while he was on his way to Jalandhar with his acquaintances.”

He said: “A revolver, four bullets and a knife were seized from Harjinder. The police have registered cases under the relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act against the suspect.

Until now, five of the nine suspects — Harjinder Singh; Pradeep Kumar, alias Deepa, a resident of Kabir Nagar; Bikramjit Singh, alias Nihang; Ruby of Preet Nagar; and Jatinderjit Singh alias Dara; — have been arrested.

Four of suspects at large

The remaining suspects identified as Ranjit Singh, alias Sonu Bhalwan, and Honey, both residents of Raj Nagar, and Amarjit Singh, a resident of Nagra, and Sukhwinder Singh of Guru Amar Dass Nagar are still absconding.

SHO Omkar Singh Brar said the main suspect, Dalbir Singh, was still at large. He reportedly had some enmity with Shashi as the latter was appearing as a witness in his case.
