Jalandhar, February 28
The city police claimed to have busted a drug trafficking network with the arrest of a person. The police also recovered 50 grams of heroin from his possession.
The suspect has been identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Sherpur Jandiala Guru, Amritsar.
Divulging details, Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said a campaign had been launched to nab drug peddlers. As part of the campaign, the police were carrying out checking at the Harnam Dass Pura Y-Point. On suspicion, the police signalled the suspect to stop for checking. During frisking, the cops recovered 50 grams of heroin from his possession and arrested him.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at the Division No. 2 police station.
CP Sharma said no criminal background of the suspect had been traced so far. Further investigations were on in the case.
