Himanshi Choudhry, who is currently seen in Inside Edge Season 3, will next be a part of Dobaaraa. She talks about it & more

Tell us more about your role in Inside Edge Season 3…

I play Sudha Dhawan, Vivek Oberoi’s wife. She is a headstrong woman, one who has many cards up her sleeve that nobody knows about. Although Sudha is not somebody I am, I like playing such characters because I can explore traits of other people.

What are your next projects?

In the pipeline for me is Six Suspects, helmed by director Tigmanshu Dhulia and Ajay Devgn Productions. It’s an adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s novel into a web series. I am also playing a pivotal role in Anurag Kashyap’s film Dobaaraa.

How was it working with Anurag Kashyap?

I have known Anurag for a long time now. Our friendship almost dates back to 15 years. Working with him was like a Christmas gift that came super-early! He is unbelievable as a director and I had loads of fun on the sets. It was a learning curve.

You have acted in as many as 20 television shows. Why don’t we see you on TV anymore?

Yes, I have had a long tryst with television. But, sadly, great roles on television do not come by anymore. If I resonate with any that come by, I would be more than happy to take them up.

Besides acting, what are your other interests?

I love photography and have a flair for languages; I have been learning Spanish for some time now. I also like to write and have been working on a screenplay. Incidentally, I was a part of the MAMI Film Festival, handling international coordination. That turned out to be a great experience for me.

What’s your take on the OTT wave?

I love the fact that the OTT platforms are a boon and have given opportunities to so many actors as well as technicians. It is a great time to be a part of this industry. I think our regional content is extremely superior—the storytelling, the narrative and the talent are all a class apart. I would be glad to be a part of them and even learn another language for it, if it ever comes to that.

Which filmmakers you’d love to work with?

In my career, I have been fortunate enough to have worked with great filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Imtiaz Ali. I would love to work with all of them again. And I look forward to working with Vikramaditya Motwane, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, and so many others.

What more is in the offing for you in 2022?

There is so much to look forward to, but I am currently basking in the glory of Inside Edge’s success; I am happy to take it one day at a time.
