Your fans have been looking forward to see you on TV and finally that is happening. How does that feel?

It feels like homecoming. To be honest I never left TV, just that I was exploring other avenues as well. I did the movie Kedarnath, few OTT shows, short films and lots of ads. As far as Pratigya is concerned, the kind of love and affection that we’ve received, it doesn't feel like eight years have passed (last episode was aired in 2012).

After Kedarnath you didn’t take up any other film project. Why?

I have been always very choosy about the kind of work I involve myself in. Kedarnath was one of the films that I absolutely loved and enjoyed being a part of. I want meatier roles, parts that would have an impact and allow me to do something meaningful.

Was it a conscious decision to stay away from TV for some time?

It was a conscious decision, yes, because I was not getting the kind of work I wanted to do. I was getting offers but not the kind of roles I was looking for. So, I decided to take a break till something worthwhile came my way. When Pratigya was offered to me I didn’t even think twice before saying yes. The new season has a fresh story and outlook.

The sequel has retained the principal characters, you, Arhaan Bahll and Sajjan Singh. What do you have to say about that?

We all have been in touch and we would always talk about how this show should make a comeback. Even during the lockdown, when the show was enjoying a hit re-run, we spoke about the same but never thought it would actually happen and that too this soon.

How are you preparing for the role?

I am feeling a little nervous because I have lost that practice of doing a daily show. For a really long time I haven’t shot for long hours. So, I am just mentally preparing myself to get into that zone.

How is it working with producers Rajan Shahi and writer and showrunner Pearl Grey for the show?

They are nice people to work with. Pearl was the creator and writer of the first season. Rajan sir and I were thinking of collaborating. We even tried working on something, but it didn’t fall into place. And as they say when it’s meant to happen, it will happen.

Given how successful the show was, there’s a lot of expectation from the latest season of the show. Are you ready for it?

That is what is making me all the more nervous. But of course, the kind of storyline Pearl has created and the kind of effort the production house is putting in, I am sure we would be able to pull this off successfully too.
