Puneet and Neeru Issar met on February 7, 2001. Theirs was a complete arranged match but love happened in the first meeting itself. Today, 19 years later, Puneet is an industrialist and Neeru is a teacher but together they are a fun couple that loves to cook, read and dance...
From the beginning
Puneet: Our story began with a meeting fixed by our parents...just like the normal arranged marriage set up.
Neeru: Our parents arranged the first meeting and things instantly got rolling.
The big decision
Puneet: It may have been an arranged meeting but we soon fell in love and eight months from our first meeting we tied the knot on July 1, 2001.
Neeru: It was love at first sight. The very first day dil dharakne laga, so we decided to get married.
Changes that followed
Puneet: Life has its ups and downs but we were in it together. We are blessed with a son and a daughter that changed the meaning of love and responsibility.
Neeru: Initially, life was like fairytale — full of romance and love. Later, lots of responsibilities and hardships came but we didn’t leave any stone unturned.
To living together
Puneet: It’s all about being ourselves, seeing the world together, visit places... thankfully we have similar interests and that adds to the experience.
Neeru: We are addicted to each other. We live our life to the fullest.
Two is company
Puneet: We both are entrepreneurs...she at home and I at work...We coordinate our family as well as our social life. When it’s time for the two of us, that means watching TV, cooking together and just taking it easy.
Neeru: We love doing everything together. Starting from the morning tea, which he makes for me, we don’t miss a single chance of being in each other’s company.
No need for any change
Puneet: I accept her as she is and we give each other space.
Neeru: I don’t want to change him. I love him as he is. Rather, he has changed a lot for me.
When it gets annoying
Puneet: Her getting up late as I am an early riser.
Neeru: Sometimes his getting annoyed over small things makes me angry.
Free time means
Puneet: We plan a trip when there are free days. Else we cook, go for a drive, enjoy a drink together, discuss family, kids, work...
Neeru: By watching our favourite series, cooking or we plan small trips.
Couple goals
Puneet: Work hard, play harder and travel the world.
Neeru: To rise and shine together. We want to inculcate good values in our kids.
The wow factor
Puneet: My wife is an excellent coordinator whether it’s her job or at home.
Neeru: For every small thing that happens in our life, my hubby says wow! His nature of appreciating little things makes everything wonderful.
How a marriage works
Puneet: It’s a combination of space, love, small fights and most importantly, understanding each other.
Neeru: Marriages are made in heaven but in order to make it a success, we need to accept each other wholeheartedly.
Secret to happily ever after
Puneet: Live your life... give space and never have too many expectations.
Neeru: Never allow a third person to interfere in your married life.
Importance of space
Puneet: It’s the top-most thing to keep a relationship going.
Neeru: It’s very important, rather the main factor.
