Ludhiana, December 5
Seventyseven persons tested positive for Covid, while two lost their lives to the virus in the district today, making the total number of positive people in Ludhiana district reach 23,338 and the death toll climb to 915.
There are 882 active cases in the district.
Those who lost their lives today included two men aged 75 and 69. Both were suffering from diabetes and hypertension and belonged to Salem Tabri and Sundar Nagar, respectively.
Out of the 77 persons who tested positive, 31 were referred from the OPDs, 27 from flu corners among, while the tracing of 10 was under progress. Meanwhile, the DMCH conducted a week-long awareness drive against Covid in different areas of the city.
Dr Bishav Mohan, medical superintendent (HDHI), stated that the people of the city should not remain on low alert in taking proper precautions against the virus.
The week-long drive witnessed areawise distribution of face masks and pamphlets in Udham Singh Nagar Market, Civil Lines, Pakhowal Road, Durga Mata Mandir (Jagraon Bridge), Peer Sunet Shah Wali Dargah, Kitchlu Nagar Market and areas surrounding Dhandi Swami Mandir. A team of doctors who participated in the drive included Dr Sarit Sharma, Dr Hitant Vohra, Dr Seema Gupta, Dr Kirandeep Kaur and Dr Sonia Singh. —TNS
