Ludhiana, November 28
Hundred persons tested positive for Covid, while five succumbed to the virus in the district today, making the death toll cross 900.
Those who lost their lives were men aged 75, 65, and 63 and a woman aged 68. There was one more fatality due to the virus. The deceased belonged to Haibowal Kalan, Latala village, Jagraon and Dhandra Road.
Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma today said under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab Government, the number of coronavirus patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. He said there were 869 active patients in the district at present.
He said efforts were being made to keep people safe from Covid. A total of 132 patients (100 new patients from the district and 32 from other states/districts) had tested positive in the last 24 hours.
He further said that till date, a total of 4,52,588 samples had been taken, out of which the reports of 4,49,975 samples had been received. Of these, 4,24,124 samples were found negative, while the reports of 2,613 samples were pending.
He said now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 22,642, while 3,209 patients were related to other districts/states.
Now the total number of persons who had lost their lives included 902 from Ludhiana district and 378 from other districts.
