LUDHIANA: Former Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) Director Dr FC Eggleston passed away yesterday. He was 96 years old and breathed his last in the US.

Former Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) Director Dr FC Eggleston passed away yesterday. He was 96 years old and breathed his last in the US.

Dr Eggleston came to India in December 1953 as one of the qualified thoracic surgeons. He was attached to the CMCH at Ludhiana and the TB Sanatorium at Jubar, Kasauli Hills.

He became Head of the Surgery Department in 1955 and was the architect of Surgery Department, CMCH. He has trained over 100 postgraduates working in India and around the world. The Department of Surgery at the CMCH was one of the best in the region due to untiring effort of Dr Eggleston.

Dr Eggleston was also the Director of the CMCH from 1982 to 1986 before retiring and moving over to Mechanicsburg, Philadelphia, US.
