Ludhiana: A man died after drinking exess liquor in Sahnewal on Saturday. It is suspected that he might have died due to over consumption of liquor or due to consumption of “adulterated” liquor. The deceased has been identified as Anwar (35). The police have sent the viscera to know the actual cause of death. His wife Seema said Anwar started vomiting when he reached home last night. He was taken to Sahnewal hospital, but could not survive. The police have initiated inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC. TNS
Two held with 82-gm heroin
Ludhiana: The Ludhiana rural police have arrested two persons and recovered 82-gram heroin from them. The accused have been identified as Harpreet Kaur and her brother-in-law Ramesh Singh of Parjian Biharipur village. Both were arrested at the check point near Sidhwan Bet. ASI Rajinderpal Singh said the accused were allegedly involved in drug peddling for the past several years. TNS
