Ludhiana, June 1
Five persons, one of them carrying a firearm, along with their unknown accomplices, attacked Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Mayapuri Colony, in the evening of Saturday while he was going to fetch milk from a dairy located in a street near his house.
Jaspreet told the police that as he reached the main road, the suspects, who were in a car, attacked him with a sickle. When he raised the alarm, and his father came out to rescue him, one of the assailants, Mani, opened fire with the intent of killing his father. Jaspreet said his father saved his life by hiding in the dairy. In the meanwhile, the assailants fled the scene.
He said the reason for assault was an old dispute involving money.
The police have recovered a bullet casing from the spot. A case has been registered against Jindi, his nephew Sunny, both residents of Rahon Road; Pamma, a resident of Meharban; Gaurav Dang of Kailash Nagar, Mani of Ghora Colony and their unknown accomplices. — OC
