Ludhiana, March 4

Keeping itself aligned with an upward trend for bakery and confectionery, the Skill Development Centre, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), conducted a five-day hands-on-skill training programme on the making of bakery products to 20 Scheduled Caste farmers, rural women and youth to help them emerge as successful entrepreneurs.

Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, while interacting with the trainees, guided them towards the adoption of self-reliant entrepreneurship. Stating that the present times called for the merger of agriculture with agribusiness, Dr Bhullar urged the trainees to remain glued to their ancestral profession of farming but to also bring in diversification via subsidiary occupations for monetary benefits.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), said the course was planned to encourage the trainees to start their bakery-related businesses in rural areas.
