Mandi Ahmedgarh/Raikot/ Payal, August 25
Office-bearers and activists of Punjab Revenue Officers Association, including tehsildars and naib tehsildars, have petitioned before their respective deputy commissioners and sub division magistrates (SDMs) to provide them fuel and maintenance expenses and security.
They have requested the authorities to make alternative arrangements for Covid, floods and other duties of emergent nature.
Revenue officers, led by Manmohan Kaushik, secretary of the association, and Pawandeep Singh, said members had handed over memoranda to their respective SDMs at Ahmedgarh, Raikot and Payal, besides deputy commissioners of Malerkotla and Ludhiana.
“Though we had already intimated our seniors about abstaining from executive magistrate duties without government vehicle and security, now we have petitioned that we will stop all types of communication between different offices with effect from September 1,” said Kaushik, maintaining that revenue officers across the state would abstain from court work from September 19 if their issues are not resolved.
Entitlement of government vehicles according to designation, permanent security and prohibition of FIR registration or initiation of inquiry by police or vigilance without approval of the Financial Commissioner Revenue (FCR) have been cited as major demands of the association.
