Rs 41,000 looted from Basti Jodhewal shop

LUDHIANA: A person allegedly stole Rs 41,000 from a shop in the Basti Jodhewal area on Sunday.

A person allegedly stole Rs 41,000 from a shop in the Basti Jodhewal area on Sunday. The police have registered a case.

In his complaint to the police, the shop owner, Rajinder Kumar of New Aazad Nagar, stated his younger son Honey was alone in the shop as he had gone away for some work.

“In the afternoon, a man, who was wearing a cap, arrived at our shop on a motorcycle and requested my son to change Rs 500. While my son was changing the note, the visitor pushed him and took away cash from the locker. He escaped on his motorcycle,” said Rajinder.

According to Rajinder, there was about Rs 41,000 in the locker. He informed the police following which a team from the Jodhewal police station reached his shop and launched investigation.

“The suspect has been identified through the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area. Efforts are on to trace him,” said SI Surjit Singh, who is investigating the case.
