State to get 31 silos to store food grain


Raikot, February 17

Union Minister of State, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Raosaheb Patil Danve said 31 silos would be set up in Punjab to increase the food grain storage capacity.

He was talking to a section of media after interacting with the Food Department officials at Jagraon near here today. Davne affirmed that 21 sites for this purpose have already been shortlisted, whereas the remaining would also be finalised shortly.

Davne was also accompanied by General Manager FCI Punjab Arshdeep Singh Thind. The Union Minister of State said that the Union government is going to implement ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme in the country and all the states are being divided into clusters. He said 12 states have been divided into clusters, whereas Punjab and other states would also be allocated into clusters soon. He assured that the beneficiaries of states would get ration on a single ration card, and it would ultimately help the people in a large way. — OC
