Ludhiana, June 28
Today, 46 more people tested positive for Covid-19, of which 43 belong to Ludhiana district. Two persons are from Pathankot and one from Fatehgarh Sahib.
Five policemen, including an ASI, a constable, a Home Guards jawan, all from the Anti-Smuggling Cell, a hawildar from the Kochar Market police chowki and a consultant from the Sanj Kendra, were found infected.
A 10-year-old girl, a 58-year-old woman, who is a contact of a Covid patient, and a pregnant woman tested positive from Khanna. The girl is from a high-risk area. All these three persons are asymptomatic.
“Contact tracing of these persons will be carried out. At present, no Covid patient is being admitted to the Civil Hospital of Khanna,” said Dr Rajinder Gulati, SMO of Khanna Civil Hospital.
A 65-year-old woman from Gurbachan Enclave and a man from Malerkotla Road, Khanna, also tested positive. They will be shifted to Ludhiana for isolation.
A domestic traveller was found infected. Seven persons, including two children, tested positive from Labour Colony, Jamalpur. The positive persons include two pregnant women from Islam Ganj and Guru Nanak Nagar.
A staff nurse from SPS Hospital also contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, a 65-year-old woman from Hoshiarpur, who had tested positive, died at Oswal Hospital today. She was a diabetic, hypertensive and was suffering from pancreas cancer.
The other positive case reported today were from Gurpreet Nagar, Barewal, Mall Road, Jamalpur, Isher Nagar, Jangpur village, Dhandari Kalan, Azad Nagar, Hargobind Nagar, Bhamian Kalan, Preet Colony, Mundian Kalan, Isher Singh Nagar, New Janta Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Civil Lines, BRS Nagar, Gurdev Nagar, Model Town Extension, Rishi Nagar and Sadhu Sundar Singh Colony.
