Ludhiana, June 10

The Ludhiana rural police arrested two persons, including a drug smuggler, in a narcotics case. The police recovered 10.5-quintal poppy husk from their possession.

The police received a tip-off that Mohamad Latif, of Darso Jagir, Baramula, Jammu & Kashmir; Jasvir Singh alias Tillu of Huzra village; Satnam Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, both of Sangowal village, Jalandhar; are coming from Jammu & Kashmir in truck no JK-05C-6797 to smuggle poppy husk in Sidhwan Bet and Jagraon area.

After receiving information, Sub-inspector Baldev Singh, along with a police party, set up a naka at a canal bridge at Bharowal village. The suspects were stopped and the police arrested the accused and recovered 30 bags of poppy husk, each weighing 35 kg, from their possession.
