Two boys died of electrocution while fixing an electronic flex board at a gift shop, near Char Khamba Chowk, yesterday night. Their families held a protest outside the police station today and demanded a strict action against the shopkeeper.

The deceased have been identified as Yogesh Khurana (24) of Shimlapuri and Lucky (18), a resident of Ambedkar Nagar. Yogesh had joined job at the gift shop about two days ago while Lucky had come to fix the flex board.

Their kin along with residents held a protest outside the Model Town police station today. Although the police had registered a case against the shopkeeper, Davinder Singh, and his son Nirmal Singh, both residents of Basant Avenue, under Section 304A of the IPC, families of the deceased demanded stringent action against them.

“A case of causing death by negligence has been registered as the police termed the incident an accident. The police should have registered a case under Section 304, IPC, (culpable homicide),” said the kin of the deceased.

They demanded that the authorities should arrange maximum compensation as they were the only earning hands of their families. Yogesh was the only brother of four sisters. His mother had died a month ago.
