Ludhiana, February 29

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) signed its 22nd memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Mr Ripudaman Singh, Royal Sugarcane Private Limited, Rajpura, Patiala, for the commercialisation of sugarcane juice bottling technology.

Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research (PAU), and Ripudaman Singh signed the pact, as per which the university has offered non-exclusive rights to the company for this technology.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor, acknowledged the concerted efforts of Poonam A Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist and Principal Investigator of the technology, in sharing it with the farmer community of Punjab.

Dhatt applauded Dr Sachdev and the stakeholder, Ripudaman, for the commercialisation of this technology and exporting the product across the globe.

Sharing details, Dr Sachdev said, “Sugarcane juice is thermally processed to kill microorganisms and increase its shelf life.

The technology for shelf-stable and ready-to-serve bottled sugarcane juice gives a healthy and hygienic product, which is prepared without any chemical preservatives, synthetic flavour, colour and additives. It is an industrially accepted technology.”
