Weather woes: No respite for passengers, 10 trains cancelled

Weather woes of rail passengers continued as the Railways announced cancellation of 10 trains due to bad weather today. Four trains were partially cancelled and three rescheduled.

Many long-route trains maintained their erratic run while passengers on New Delhi-Ludhiana-Amritsar sections had to suffer inconvenience as several trains on this section were running behind schedule due to operational reasons.

According to railway officials, 13006 Amritsar-Howrah Mail, 13151/52 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Sealdah Express, 14605 Haridwar-Jammu Tawi Express, 14617/18 Jansewa Express, 14631/32 Dehradun-Amritsar-Dehradun Express, 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express and 22423 Gorakhpur-Amritsar Jansadhdran Express trains were cancelled for the day.

Two pairs of 12053/54 Haridwar-Amritsar-Haridwar (between Saharanpur and Haridwar) and 14609/10 Rishikesh-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Rishikesh Hemkunt Sahib Express (between Haridwar and Rishikesh) were partially cancelled. Three other trains 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express (2.30 hrs), 12716 Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express (5 hrs) and 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express (2.45 hrs) were rescheduled for late departure.

Passengers travelling on the trunk route of Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi were in for another difficult day as two trains 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi and 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar were rescheduled for late departure and three other trains on this section – the pair of 12497/98 New Delhi-Amritsar-New Delhi Shane-Punjab, along with elite 22439 New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (via Ludhiana) were running late by 45 minutes to an hour each.

Trains running late

• 3 to 5 hrs: Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Exp, Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Exp.
• 2 to 3 hrs: Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express, New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express, Darbhanga-Amritsar-Jannayak Express.
• Up to 2 hrs: Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express, Pune-Jamu Tawi Jhelum Express, Saharsa-Amritsar Garib Rath, 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu Yamuna Express.
