Ludhiana, August 4

For the third day in a row, veterinarian doctors staged a dharna at the district headquarters of the Animal Husbandry Department today. They boycotted hospital and official work and raised slogans against Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, accusing him of being “incompetent, stubborn, anti-employee and insensitive to public issues”.

Dr Chatinder Singh Rai, district president of Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association, said it was only due to the unreasonable insistence of the Finance Minister that the general public and employees were being harassed.

He said their protest would continue till their demand of NPA rollback was met and they would lay siege to the state headquarters of the department at Mohali in the coming days if need be.
