New Delhi, January 22
Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan has moved the Supreme Court seeking interim bail too campaign for the ensuing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Currently lodged in the Sitapur jail, Khan faced several cases and has been behind the bars since February 2020.
Stating that he has been granted bail in all other cases, Khan alleged that proceedings in three cases have been “purposefully” delayed to ensure that he remained in jail during the assembly.
The Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled to be held from February 10 in seven phases and counting of votes will be held on March 10.
