Mumbai, August 12
Shiv Sena supporters and members of the Muslim community clashed and hurled stones today in Hingoli district of Maharashtra, around 580 km from here, police said.
Information about injuries, if any, caused to anybody was not available immediately.
The incident occurred around 9.30 am between Aundha Idgah and Nanded Naka areas when members of the Sena’s ‘Kawad Yatra’ and Muslims gathered for the Eid prayers came face to face, an official said. A clash broke out after heated arguments between both the sides, which led to stone-pelting, the official added. The exact trigger behind the violence is not yet known. The police have deployed personnel in large numbers in the area, which falls under Aurangabad division of Marathwada. The plice are yet to register a case or make arrests. The situation is under control now, the official added. — PTI
