A “very special friend” surprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament on Tuesday.

Taking to his Instagram account, the Prime Minister shared two pictures of him playing with a toddler who was later revealed to be the grand-daughter of BJP Member of Parliament Satyanarayan Jatiya.

The baby can be seen comfortably sitting in the Prime Minister’s lap.

Modi wrote: “A very special friend came to meet me in Parliament today.” Within an hour, the post received over 10,000 comments and more than 80,000 likes.

One user wrote: “So lucky this baby”. Another said: “Modiji m bhi milna chata hu”. One said: “Hope that child grows up with your ideologies and the love for our nation. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat”.

National Conference working president Omar Abdullah mocked the photo saying that the tweet was in response to Opposition’s demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement over US President Donald Trump’s recent claims.

Abdullah said in his tweet: Cute pictures. While the oppostion parties yell themselves hoarse demanding the PM explain last night’s mediation brouhaha he lets them know what he thinks of their demand by putting pictures like these on his Instagram feed”.

The controversy Adbullah was referring to was to do with Trump’s recent claim that the prime minister had asked him to mediate in the dispute between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. The reaction prompted India’s External Affairs Ministry and later its minister S Jaishankar to immediately deny the claim. However, opposition now wants the prime ministry to issue a statement in Parliament.
