Satinder Sartaaj, who recently performed at the cultural fest of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, speaks about his upcoming movie in 2020 and his source of motivation.

Q- Where do you find the motivation and words to create such thought-provoking compositions and what is the role of ‘Ahmad’ in the process?

A- Ahmad, basically, cannot be found. It is something innate and this is the good thing about poetry. It is a part of this mystical aspect but consistent practice is still needed, as was the case with Lord Buddha, who attained enlightenment through lifelong practice in the form of meditation. So, being content, honest and a good person, everything counts in ‘Ahmad’ and once you are at it, you start embracing nature, feel the pain, suffer at the plight of others. You turn out to be an empath and these emotions are expressed automatically in the compositions.

Q- The way we see you in the videos, is it the same way you are in your everyday life?

A- This can be better and genuinely answered by people who know me personally. Even if you are not on talking terms with someone for some reasons and still that person speaks in your favour; that is the most honest review one can ever get.

Q- There is one composition of yours that goes like Mere geeta’an menu pucheya. What is the real story behind it?

A- I vividly remember it was about 1.15 am on March 28 of 2008 when I wrote this song. The month prior to it was that of a writer’s block; I was unable to pen down anything for about a month. It was the time when I left my hostel, due to which all the surrounding and environment got altered, and it impacted my concentration. And then, one day, I felt as if words are angry at me. That was the trigger for having written mere geeta’an menu pucheya.

Q- We are excited about your upcoming movie that is due to release in March 2020. Please tell us more about it.

A- Ikko Mikke is the name of the movie whose official poster will be released soon. As of now text poster announcing the date of release that is March 23, 2020, is out. Directed by Pankaj Verma, this movie will star Aditi Sharma.
