Amritsar, October 25

BSF troops gunned down an intruder from Pakistan near BoP Bharopal in Amritsar sector on Thursday night. This is the second incident in two weeks when an intruder had tried to cross the border.

According to information, the BSF personnel, on Thursday, suspected some movement in paddy fields around 9.45 pm. An unidentified person was found to have crossed the International Border and entered the Indian territory. The BSF troops challenged him to stop but he didn’t, following which they opened fire, killing him on the spot.

A senior BSF officer said the identity of the accused could not be ascertained. He appeared to be in his 40s. Except for some vegetables and old papers, nothing objectionable was recovered from him.

“We have shared photographs of the body with our counterparts across the border during a flag meeting, but he could not be identified. They are ascertaining his identity with the local people but there has been no success yet,” he said.

Second incident in 10 days

On October 15, Gul Faraz, son of Mohammad Saeed, was shot dead near Rorawala village, Attari, when he crossed the border to enter the Indian territory. Pakistan had claimed the body of the 19- year- old youth and accordingly, it was handed over to Pakistan Rangers. His identity was established as a Pakistani national card was found in his pocket.
