Farm workers protest outside houses of Punjab ministers, MLAs

On the call of the Sanjha Morcha of Pendu and Khet Mazdoor Unions, farm workers today protested outside the residences of ministers and MLAs in 13 districts.
They also submitted memorandums regarding their demands related to earmarking of adequate money in the Budget for the betterment of the working class, said Lachman Singh Sewewal, leader of these unions.
He said protests were held outside the residences of Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, Social Security Minister Dr Baljit Kaur, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhawan, Revenue Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa, besides several other MLAs.
They stressed on their demand of complete loan waiver for workers and poor farmers, bringing in new farming policies favouring farm labourers, providing education and health services at government expense and keeping a reserved budget for these purposes.
They also demanded that workers should be guaranteed permanent employment.
