Ludhiana, February 18

As the MC officials concerned failed to pay attention towards overflowing sewers and other issues in ward 3, now a Congress councillor has threatened to stage a protest. Councillor Pallavi Vinayak said residents were suffering a lot in various parts of the ward due to overflowing sewers, but the MC failed to take necessary measures.

She met Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and apprised him of the poor sanitary conditions in various parts of the ward. She said: “The people have elected me and it is my responsibility to highlight the issues for early redressal. If the MC officials took no action to fix the problem of overflowing sewers, I will be forced to stage a protest. My protest will be against the MC officials only as they are not paying any heed.”

It is pertinent to mention that the councillor had raised the issue of overflowing sewers many times before the higher authorities also, but to no avail. She said the sewer lane in some areas had not been laid in a right manner in the past due to which the overflowing sewer got accumulated in some residential areas. She demanded from Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu to direct the staff concerned to take immediate measures to resolve the problem.

Notably, Ludhiana East MLA Sanjay Talwar had also raised the issue of overflowing sewers in various wards in the constituency.
