9 flights cancelled, 10 trains delayed due to fog

CHANDIGARH: Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time at the Chandigarh railway station as 10 trains were delayed because of dense fog.

Hundreds of passengers had a harrowing time at the Chandigarh railway station as 10 trains were delayed because of dense fog. Worst affected were the long-route train passengers as it was delayed by five to 12 hours. Nine flights were also cancelled at the Chandigarh Domestic Airport.

In fact the morning Shatabdi which plys between New Delhi and Chandigarh reaches the city railway station at 11:15 am but it was delayed by six-and-half-hour. The evening Shatabdi which plys from Chandigarh to New Delhi reached at 9.55 pm at Delhi station was delayed by two hours 40 minutes.

Besides this, two long-route trains, including Unchahar Express 14217 arrived 12 hours late and 14218 departed five hours late from the station, Lucknow-Chandigarh Express 15011 arrived around two hours late and 15012 train departed five hours late, Howrah Chandigarh 12311 arrived 12 hours late, Sadbhavana Express 12231 arrived eight hours late, Mumbai to Chandigarh 22925 train was late by two-and-half-hour and Sampark Kranti Express arrived four hours late at the station. All five flights of Jet Airways, Delhi bound two flights of Spicejet, Bangalore bound one flight of Air Asia and Delhi flight of Indigo Airline were cancelled due to fog.

As per the Met Department there will be no relief from fog for the next two days due to which the night temperature will dip further. As per the met forecast, there will be partly cloudy sky with dense fog during the morning and evening hours on Tuesday.

As per the Met report, the maximum temperature recorded today was 17 degree Celsius which is four notches below the normal and minimum temperature, 7.6 degree Celsius which is two notches above the normal.
