Amritsar, February 14

On the first anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, various political and social organisations paid tribute to the 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who were killed in a terror attack in Pulwama on February 14 last year. The activists pledged to never forget their sacrifice.

A year ago, Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Adeel Ahmed Dar, driving an explosive-laden car, blew himself next to a convoy of security vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar highway at Lethpora in Pulwama, killing 40 CRPF jawans.

Members of the district unit of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), led by district president Jatinder Sonia, took out a candlelight march at Gobindgarh Fort. District Congress president Jatinder Sonia said: “We must not forget the martyrdom of the jawans, who sacrificed their lives for us. The government must take some steps to ensure the safety of security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, the office-bearers of the All India National Human Rights and Crime Control Organisation also paid tribute to the Pulwama martyrs at the Company garden. Sukhwant Singh, state coordinator of the organisation, said: “The country stands united against terrorism. The Pulwama attack was a cowardly act.”
