AMRITSAR: Keeping the festive spirit alive, city schools celebrated the festival of Dasehra.

Keeping the festive spirit alive, city schools celebrated the festival of Dasehra. DAV Public School, celebrated Dussehra with great zeal and enthusiasm.

School students performed a short skit depicting the awe inspiring and divine life of Lord Rama and his victory over Ravana. In the end, they gave a message to overcome the vices like anger, greed, lust, arrogance, hatred, jealousy, ego for a meaningful life. The colorful attires of the students enhanced the festive aura and they recited poems highlighting the significance of the day. School Principal Neera Sharma blessed the students and advised them that mere knowledge is of no use if it is not put to good use.

Shri Ram Ashram Public School also celebrated Dussehra with great gusto. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class VIII in which they showcased the life history of Ravana. Despite born as a demon, he was a great scholar, who had good Vedic knowledge and well known for his yoga techniques. He was also a great devotee of Lord Shiva but his haughtiness, ego and false pride brought him terrible fate.

Students also presented Lord Rama’s life in jungle during his 14 years of exile, war with Ravana, the home coming of Lord Rama with Laxman and Goddess Sita with incredibility and powerful dialogue delivery. At the end, the effigy of Ravana was burnt by the students enacting Lord Rama’s character. Principal, Vinodita Sankhyan, encouraged the students to give up their evil ways of life especially their bad habits.
