Amritsar: The placement department of Guru Nanak Dev University organised a seminar on “IBM Cloud and Blockchain” in the auditorium. Dr Mani Madhukar, programme manager, university relations, IBM, conducted the seminar. Students of computer science, computer engineering and electronics technology departments of main campus and regional campuses participated. Chef Day celebrated at AGC
Amritsar: Amritsar Group of Colleges’ (AGC) department of hotel management celebrated AGC’s annual event “Chef Day” under the theme of “Healthy Food for Growing Up”. Annual chef parade happened in the campus by the students of hotel management and catering technology, who were dressed up in the scenic look of the chefs wearing chef coats and caps. Diwali fiesta at DAV College
Amritsar: BBK DAV College for Women organised Diwali fiesta at a special exhibition to showcase talent and entrepreneur skills of students. The fiesta was organised by the departments of design, fine arts, home science and jewellery designing. Sartaj Singh Chahal, Additional Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, and Alka Kalia, SDM, Amritsar were the guests of the event. Showcasing their creativity, students exhibited stalls on tie and die, block and screen printing, upholstery and utility items, jute bags, murals, heena art, nail art, apparel accessories, scarves, stoles, wall hangings, dupatta, paper lanterns, mirrors, candles, diyas, various artefacts depiciting Ganesha, jharokhas etc. Besides, the student displayed stalls of various food delicacies like, bhel puri, Russian salad, sandwiches, golgappas, cakes and chocolates. Polio awareness rally organised
Amritsar: Bhavan’s SL Public School students flagged off a polio awareness rally on World Polio Day in collaboration with Rotary Club, Midtown, and all Inner Wheel Clubs on Thursday. This rally was organised by school students under the guidance of chairman Avinash Mohindru and director-principal Anita Bhalla to raise awareness and support to end polio. Members of the Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club, Amritsar, were also part of the rally. The rally began from school’s premises amidst slogans, placards and banners and kept on sensitising residents of Amritsar city in the areas of Hukum Singh Road, Batala Road and Shivala Road. Around 220 students participated with enthusiasm and zeal in the rally and raised slogans on the need for administering the polio vaccine. TNS
