1 lakh kids get polio vaccine

Amritsar, June 18

The three-day pulse polio campaign concluded here on Tuesday. Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said the department had completed its target of immunising 1,27,434 children below five years of age.

He said the special focus was on children living in slum areas, brick kilns and factories. “The country has already been declared polio-free nation, but as the virus is still active in neighbouring nations,” he added. — TNS
