11 more dengue cases reported

AMRITSAR: The Health Department has confirmed 11 more dengue positive cases here today. With this, the total number of dengue patients reported so far has reached 145.



Amritsar, September 27

The Health Department has confirmed 11 more dengue positive cases here today. With this, the total number of dengue patients reported so far has reached 145.

The Health Department has also confirmed death of a third dengue patient. However, the causes of death of two more patients suspected to have died from dengue are still being investigated by Death Review Committee of the Health Department.

The Health Department officials stated that dengue problem is witnessed more on alternative years. As per the records available with the department, only 22 dengue positive cases were reported last year. However in 2013, the district had reported a total of 244 cases.

District Epidemiologist Dr Des Raj said, “A look at the number of cases reported during the previous years reveal that on alternative years more number of cases have been reported.” —TNS
