2 liquor vend employees shot at

AMRITSAR: Unidentified armed robbers decamped with cash after shooting two employees of a liquor vend here late on Tuesday evening. The injured were rushed to a private hospital where their condition is stated to serious. The injured have been identified as Hardip Singh, alias Happy, and Bhupinder Singh, alias Bhupa.

Unidentified armed robbers decamped with cash after shooting two employees of a liquor vend here late on Tuesday evening.

The injured were rushed to a private hospital where their condition is stated to serious.

The injured have been identified as Hardip Singh, alias Happy, and Bhupinder Singh, alias Bhupa. The police have registered a case under Sections 307, 379-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act against the unknown assailants.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) Mukhwinder Singh said the police had found vital clues regarding the suspects and police teams were despatched conduct raids. “We are hoping to make some breakthrough in the incident soon,” he said.

According to information, four unknown persons with covered faces came on two bikes at the liquor vend located at the Majitha road. Two of them entered the vend and demanded cash while pointing pistols at them. The duo resisted their attempt and had a scuffle with them. The accused fired at them indiscriminately and fled away with Rs 70,000 from the cash box.

People gathered at the spot and rushed them to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital from where they were shifted to a private hospital. Bhupinder suffered a bullet injury on head while Hardip sustained an injury on his arm.

Police officials, headed by DCP Jagmohan Singh and ACP Palwinder Singh, reached the spot for an investigation.
