Amritsar, February 22

A car-borne group of youth allegedly fired at another group while chasing them here on Monday. The incident came to light when the victims lodged a complaint with the Gate Hakima police in this connection.

A case has been registered against Arshdeep Singh of Bhikhiwind, Vattandeep Singh of Dulla village, Patti, and Harchand Singh of Kalas village in Khemkaran. An old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident. No arrest has been made so far.

Balraj Singh, alias Bobby, a resident of Mari Udoke village, stated to the police that he, along with his friends, came to Amritsar in their car for attending a function. They were going towards Khalsa College side when the accused, travelling in another car, fired at them near Guru Harkrishan Public School on GT Road. In order to save themselves, they tried to speed away. He said after crossing Putlighar Chowk, the accused again fired gunshots at them. They fired at them for the third time near Khalsa College, he alleged.

The complainant said he turned towards Kabir Park police chowki and parked the car there which forced the accused to flee. There were around seven gunshots on the car, said Bobby.

Gurminder Singh, SHO, Gate Hakima police station, said a case under Sections 307, 427, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59-A of the Arms act was registered. The accused are absconding, he said.

He said the name of Gagandeep, brother of Arshdeep, was not included in the FIR as he was not present at that time as per the initial probe. He said both the groups had an old enmity. Arshdeep’s group had registered an FIR against Bobby in Bhikhiwind police station. He said further investigation was under way and raids were on to nab the suspects.
