Amritsar, November 7

Following the directions of the Ministry of Urban Development, the Municipal Corporation held a meeting with bulk garbage generators in the city. Owners of big hotels, clubs, restaurants, schools, colleges and commercial establishments participated in the meeting.

Amit Kumar, Commissioner, MC, issued the instructions to bulk garbage generators to manage garbage on their own.

As per the directions of the Cente, the bulk garbage generators, who generates over 100 kg garbage in a day, have to install separate bins for its segregation. They have to arrange garbage-composting machines to compost the waste. Hotels, educational institutions and other such establishments have to segregate wet waste and biodegradable components.

MC officials said the MC would not collect the biodegradable waste from the bulk garbage generators. Hotels and clubs have to develop the infrastructure accordingly. — TNS
