Couple booked on Rs 60-lakh fraud charge

The police have booked a couple for duping a Firozpur resident of Rs60 lakh.

The suspects have been identified as Gurmit Singh and his wife Darshan Kaur, residents of Nathupur.

The police said the suspects had duped the victim, Jarnail Singh, on the pretext of sending his family to Canada.

The complainant said the suspects had taken the money seven years ago. On his complaint, a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and under the Punjab Protection of Human Smuggling Act has been registered against the suspects. — OC
