A 27-year-old Rajandeep Kaur was suffering from tetralogy of fallot (blue baby syndrome), a congenital cyanotic heart disease for the past many years. Her major complaint was that she had to rest every few minutes during walks. If she continued the movement, she became unconscious and her limbs used to turn blue.
However, her life has now changed for the better, with a team of Fortis Escort Hospital performing a successful heart surgery on her.
Dr Rajeev Vashisth, consultant, cardiac surgery, said the patient had a history of typical cyanotic spell and squatting. She had been under treatment of a neuro-physician in early part of her life due to her history of unconsciousness and dizziness. He said the patient was diagnosed as a case of tetralogy around 14-years ago, but she was avoiding cardiac surgery because of personal inhibitions.
Dr Vashisth said the patient had responded well to the surgery and was now able to shoulder her family responsibilities more efficiently. Dr HP Singh, medical director and Dr Pinak Moudgil, facility director, said it was another feather added to the cap of Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar.
