TARN TARAN: The police have booked a teacher of a government school for allegedly bungling Rs 1.

Tarn Taran, July 12

The police have booked a teacher of a government school for allegedly bungling Rs 1.66 lakh issued by the Union Government under the minority quota to be distributed among students.

ASI Harbhajan Singh, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 409 and 420 of the IPC was registered against Sukhwinder Singh, teacher at Government High School, Van Tara Singh.

Mehar Singh, headmaster of the school, said Sukhwinder withdrew the funds through a cheque (006653) on September 9, 2014. He didn’t distribute it among students so he couldn’t produce any record for the disbursal of the same. The teacher is absconding, the police said. The amount was given as stipend to the students belonging to the minority communities. — OC
