I will focus on improvement of health & education, says Sarkaria

The Congress MLA, Sukhbinder Singh (Sukh) Sarkaria, won the Assembly poll from the Rajasansi constituency for the third consecutive time. 

Eradicating drug abuse, besides improving education and health system in the rural belt dominated constituency, are among his priorities. 

“The system has totally collapsed when it comes to providing quality health services and education to children. Therefore, my focus will primarily be on these two issues,” said Sarkaria. 

He added that, “The Congress party has come to power with a full majority. We have promised people to wipe of drug menace from its roots in Punjab. Besides, quality health and education, my emphasis will also be on nailing drug smugglers and peddlers in my area.”

He said, “Government schools are in a bad shape. If students’ number is higher in schools and there is no proper or enough staff then there will less strength in classes. We will review such issues and maintain a balance between the students and teachers ratio so that quality education is imparted,” he added. 

He said, “The sewerage in villages has also collapsed due to which dirty waters spills on road. Thanks to large-scale encroachment of village ponds during the SAD-BJP regime in the past decade. We will take up the matter with village panchayats to find out some solution and improve sewerage in the rural areas.” 

While talking about stray dog menace in the rural belt Sarkaria said, “Dogs, especially those living in the Haddo rori areas, where animal carcasses are dumped, have become more dangerous. Deputy Commissioner has asked village panchayats to generate funds for sterilisation of stray dogs in order to control their population.” 

“I will take up the matter with the Punjab government to raise the issue with the Centre,” he added. 

The Rajasansi constituency consists of a large number of villages where people are facing huge problems. Borders villages are most backward and undeveloped areas, besides being deprived of proper health and education facilities. Issues related to farming community, bridges without railings and poor road infrastructure are other major problems, which plague the rural constituency.
