CIA staff seize 100-gm Heroin

TARN TARAN: A team of the local CIA staff, led by ASI Sukhdev Singh, nabbed one Bohar Singh of Mari Kamoke village from Mari Megha, 40 km from here, for allegedly possessing heroin.



Tarn Taran: A team of the local CIA staff, led by ASI Sukhdev Singh, nabbed one Bohar Singh of Mari Kamoke village from Mari Megha, 40 km from here, for allegedly possessing heroin. As much as 100-gm heroin has been seized from him. The police said the accused had brought the consignment from Gurwinder Singh of Mari Udhoke. Bohar Singh and Gurwinder Singh have been booked under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. The police will try to ascertain their upward and downward links. OC

Environmental study must

Amritsar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the institutions of higher education to ensure a course in environment studies. It is compulsory for the higher education institutions to have a six-months core module syllabus on environmental studies for undergraduate courses, mentioned UGC in a circular. The syllabus of the same is available on the UGC website. The letter has been marked to vice-chancellors of all the universities as per the directives of the Supreme Court.
