A delegation of families, who had lost their kin in the tragic train accident at Jaura Phatak during Dasehra celebrations last year, met Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu to remind him of the government’s promise regarding providing jobs in the Municipal Corporation (MC).

The family members of around 30 deceased also submitted their applications to the mayor, demanding jobs without delay. One of them Sita Devi, who lost her husband Pawan Kumar, said, “My husband was a daily wager and he was the sole breadwinner of the family. Our lives have been turned upside down after the accident. If a member of our family gets job, our worry regarding meals will fade away. My two daughters, aged 16 and 14 years, and an 11-year-old son are too young to work.”

Several others echoed same views. They said that the MC should provide them jobs at the earliest so that they could lead a normal life. The delegation members also stated that they would meet the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.

Deepak, another member of the delegation, said, “We have submitted our applications and the mayor has assured us of help.” He said most of the families don’t have no adult left to earn livelihood.
