AMRITSAR: The Panghura welcomed another girl child, thus taking the total count of girls to 142.

The Panghura welcomed another girl child, thus taking the total count of girls to 142. The infant was found inside the cradle on the evening of February 5. She was left by an unidentified person. The child is in good health. She was sent to Parvati Devi Hospital for a medical checkup.

“The district administration facilitates proceedings for legal adoption of such children and secures their safe future by filtering only genuine families,” said Archana Naib, Tehsildar, who received the child. She will be sent to Swami Ganga Nand Bhooriwala Foundation Home where she will join other children for adoption process.

The Red Cross Society has also created an online portal for families interested in adopting children at Panghura. “You have to register yourself at www.cara.nic.in. Applicants are scanned by our officials,” she said. The total count of children at Pangoora is 166 out of which 24 are male.
