Tarn Taran, December 4

Employees and pensioners of the Powercom department on Wednesday continued their protest for the third day here. The employees boycotted the work in protest against the non-payment of their salaries for the month of November.

Jatinder Singh, Superintending Engineer (SE) of the local circle, claimed that the employees absence had put little impact on the normal functioning as there was no interruption in the power supply and even the emergency works too were being attended by some of the employees. He said the non-recovery of arrears from defaulters was the main reason behind non-payment of the salaries.

Employees and pensioners of the Powercom organised a protest rally at the local circle office and other offices of the Powercom in the district.

Employees union leaders Ajit Singh and Rajbir Singh Dhillon said the state government’s wrong policies were responsible for the present state of affairs. The reports of protests were received from Patti, Bhikhiwind, Khemkaran, Naushehra Pannuan, Sarhali, Chohla Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Harike and Khalra.
