A three-day national-level annual techno-cultural festival “Polaris-2019” was inaugurated on Thursday on the ground of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bhawan. The fest is being organised by Computer Engineering Students Society (CESS) of the Department of Computer Engineering and Technology (CET), Guru Nanak Dev University.

Dean, Students Welfare, Dr Hardeep Singh inaugurated the fest while Mr Bobby Bhatia, CEO and founder of TrakInvest, was the special guest on the occasion. Dr Hardeep Singh congratulated students of the CET department for organising the event and wished them good luck. He said such events were really encouraging and necessary for overall development of students. He apprised students of ways to improve their co-curricular skills in the progressive environment of the university.

On the occasion, Bobby Bhatia, who graduated in Economics (hons) from Duke University, spoke on blockchain technology. He motivated students to develop a vision in the field of entrepreneurship and to rise above the notion that the only career option after graduation was to get placement.

Dr Sandeep Sharma, Head of the Department, appreciated the tireless efforts made by students to organise the event. He emphasised practical learning rather than cramming.
